Whiplash
is usually associated with automobile accidents, but it can occur in any
situation that causes a sudden movement of the head backward, forward,
or sideways. The result is torn or strained muscles and ligaments, and
misalignment of the bones in the neck and spine.
An immediate chiropractic examination is crucial. Pain relievers won't
heal inflamed tendons and ligaments, and muscle relaxers won't cure torn
muscles. A cervical collar does nothing to restore a proper forward spinal
curve. Specific chiropractic spinal adjustments help restore normal motion
and position to spinal structures so the body can heal the damaged tissues.
Chiropractic care also results in the reduction of inflammation and better
healing overall.
